Sidoarjo Square is shaped like a park, combined
with sports facilities and various game facilities for children. This place is
very suitable to be used as a family tourist destination. The square area is
usually crowded on weekends, especially on Sundays. Where the highway around
the square, becomes the location of a car-free day, making it easier for the
people of Sidoarjo to exercise without being disturbed by vehicle traffic.
On Car-free days, the square is crowded with
various community circles, usually, there will be gymnastics together before
doing strenuous activities such as running a marathon or running hundreds of
meters.
On the other hand, the Sidoarjo square area is provided with a special place in the form of food or beverage tents, which can be used for food or beverage sellers. In this place, visitors to the square can get a variety of culinary menus according to taste.
Sidoarjo square itself also has a Jayandaru monument. This monument was erected in 2015. Milkfish, rice, and shrimp found at the top of this monument describe the products produced by the people of Sidoarjo. The name Jayandaru itself comes from Sanskrit. Jaya has the meaning of glory, while ndaru has the meaning of Revelation so this monument has the meaning of the people of Sidoarjo can achieve victory or success when facing various situations so that the prosperity of the community can be maintained.
When the beginning of this monument was
erected, around the Jayandaru Monument, there were 9 human statues depicting
the embodiment of the work of the people of Sidoarjo in general, namely farmers
and farmers, but the existence of the human-shaped statue was protested by some
people and they asked for the statue to be removed because the statue was
considered an idol. Currently, the statue is no longer visible in the Jayandaru
Monument area, all that remains is a single monument full of meaning.
In addition to being a tourist spot for
family, Sidoarjo Square is also a place for community gatherings from various
circles. Starting from the dance community, the skate community, and even the
Cosplay community (costume play) also make the square a place of discussion.
Sidoarjo Square is right next to the great
mosque of Sidoarjo. Which is the most vulnerable mosque in Sidoarjo. Where it
has a variety of complete facilities and can accommodate up to thousands of
pilgrims. The mosque is also equipped with an excavator and also an LCD
projector to display the imam when preaching.
In addition to the mosque, Sidoarjo Square
also provides a sports venue for all circles. Where there are athletic tools
such as leg swings, light weight lifting, as well as various others in the
corner of the park, complete with small children's games. On the other end,
Sidoarjo Square provides a large field that is quite flexible. Which can be
used as anything. Such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, and badminton.
At certain times, Sidoarjo Square also often
holds events or bazaars. Just like during Ramadan, the Square will hold a
bazaar stand, or when a big day is held such as Sidoarjo's birthday, it will be
prayed for various competitions such as fashion show competitions, child dai,
and others.
Although the overall cleanliness and order is
the responsibility of the civil service officer, it's good for us as citizens
and good Visitors to maintain the cleanliness that exists. After all, there has
been much garbage in every corner so as not to have difficulty in finding a
trash can.
